Hair breakage from extensions?

Yeah so ir has been awhile since I have really felt good about myself. I had a horrendous experience with hair extensions during October of last year and my hair is still recovering. I was just wondering if anyone experienced bad breakage due to hair extensions and how long it took for their hair to recover. What did you do? What kind of products did you use? What seemed to really help? I had the glued-in kind..they were cheap %26amp; I was told that it was human hair but I doubt that as of now. Upon removal my hair was supperrr thin. It was fine to begin with but it was plentiful. When I had it removed it was very sparse at the thin. At the current time it has thickened up since last year, but it still not where it used to be. It is difficult to go through this. It definitely takes a toll on your self-confidence. I am 20 years old and I really hope I don't have to go through this forever. I just wanted to know if anyone else has been through something like this.

Wow, how long did you have (glue-in) bonded tracks? I think that happened because you left them in too long. Bonded tracks should never be in for more than a couple days to perhaps a week at the most. Really, that is the worst kind of weave to get! Sorry you had to go through that drama. You spent too much money if you got human hair, idk if u got it tho.

I have not actually had the exact experience you had. But I have had hair breakage as a result of getting braids (long cornrolls/extensions) directly after getting my hair relaxed (its a process to make the African American (or ethnic) hair more straightened at the roots sometimes called perm.

Anyway, that was a big mistake especially because my real hair was straightened the same day I got the braids. It was awful--anyway I just stayed away from making the mistake again!

Now I often wear my own hair in a wrap set (straightened) sometimes I Will braid my real hair and wear quick weave which is actually a half-wig just to give my real hair a break.

I clip my ends regularly and always get a good conditioner at the salon. My hair has been treated and grew back very well.

Many people assume I have extensions in my natural hair because it is thick and has volume and length that is not always common in African American hair. Only thing is my hair is high maintenace. I am assuming you are Caucasian which means you naturally have straight (or wavy) hair. Upkeep is not nearly as difficult for your texture of hair. See a salon professional try not to keep heat on your hair. Let it air dry. Also moisturize your scalp regularly, clip ends and do not over comb it. Sometimes over-combing causes shedding.

Anyway, hope my tips helped I did not mention hair products because you have a different texture hair but I think John Freda should work for you greatly.

i never had extensions, but i know many people who have. the only way you can get rid of breakage is cutting it off, %26amp; then caring for it the best you can. if you want your hair to grow faster, just take very good care! use beauty salon products such as paul mitchell or you can use infusium! have a good diet, exercise, don't wash your hair every day, don't comb it hard while its tangled, %26amp; your hair should be fine!

wow thats bad i had it glued before but never had that problem, thats why u should get it sewn in next time and tell them u want 100% human hair. i had mine glued but i ended up cuting the glue out so my hair looked choped of in some parts lol. it took about 5-6 months for my hair to grow back.

i do extensions and i have never heard of something like that happen. Maybe there was toooo much glue, or the way u took them out if u pulled them out without using the oil remover then maybe u snapped them. or your hair was too flagile. just trim and use a protein treatment this helps the hair not snap or break any further.

I had a really bad glue experience a couple of years ago. The glue tears out the hair so make sure your hair is cut and free of split ends so the hair you grow back is healthy. If u want fuller hair I suggest going natural for a while. You can still be fly though just invest in a human half wig or a fall they are very natural looking just flat iron of your bang and edges and blend. Its better than a weave. This will give your hair a break. You can try lace fronts if money isnt an option.

1. Use a protein conditioner weekly with heat to penetrate

Suggestions: ORS Mayo, Aphogee 2 min, Motions CPR or Motions Silk Protein

This should strenghten the hair

2. Stimulate your scalp by massaging with light oils

ORS Fertilizer or Wild growth Oil

3. Retain the hair you have by using moisturizing shampoos that detangle easily...Cream of Nature and Keracare detangling and Design Essentials Moisture Retention are good options

4. Only use boar bristle brushes and seemless combs

5. Sleep with a satin scarf
