How do you measure the average area on a human head (in sq. cm) covered by hair?

I'm guessing this involves the surface area of a sphere..?

and um, approximately how many hairs are there in 1 sq. cm of "head" ?

(thanks for answering, i'm trying to confirm my estimates for a stupid kindergarten-y physics lab report)

Just find a bald guy and say there is 0 square centimeters of area covered by hair!

Use some cloth to cover the area, then measure the cloth.

As far as how many hairs.... measure out a small area (maybe a quarter cm square or something) and start counting. Good luck!
