How many hairs is on the human head? And how much does it vary-thin vs. thick hair?

Oh boy, useless trivia! I love it!! Okay, a redhead has the least NUMBER of hairs on the head, at about 90,000, however, it is the thickest. A blonde has the greatest number of hairs on the head at about 140,000, but it's the thinnest, and brunettes are somewhere in the middle, with about 100,000 strands, and it's of an average thickness. Another interesting fact is that there may be no more "real" redheads by the year 2060. Very interesting article, check it out: http://www.amren.com/mtnews/archives/200...

The average person has somewhere in the neighbourhood of 10,000 hair follicles on their head. This doesn't really vary much in the case of thick and thin hair, as the main difference there is in the shape and thickness of the individual strands of hair themselves. The shape of the hair strand also determines the straightness/waviness/kinkiness of the hair.
